Part 1: What’s Happening Next Month — Affordable Housing Workshop

We’re excited to share that our upcoming NYQM Community Workshop: Navigating Affordable Housing in NYC will take place on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at 7:00 PM, presented by Jennifer Vallone from University Settlement.

This virtual workshop will introduce the affordable housing landscape in NYC, the different types of affordable housing, the application process, and available rent subsidy programs. We welcome everyone who wants to better understand housing options and resources.

Part 2: Winter Safety — Quick Tips from Ready NY

As we move through the colder months, here are a few simple reminders to stay safe:

• Make sure your home has heat; call 311 if you lose heat or hot water.
• Keep warm layers, blankets, flashlights, and batteries at home for emergencies.
• Check that your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are working.
• Dress warmly when going outside and be cautious on icy sidewalks.
• Stay connected — check in on friends, neighbors, or anyone who may need support.

Part 2.5: Need Help with Heating Costs? — HEAP Information

As we move through the winter season, you may be eligible for the Home Emergency Assistance Program (HEAP),  which helps income-eligible households cover heating expenses. HEAP can support regular heating costs, emergency situations, or, in some cases, repairs or replacement of heating equipment. If you’d like to learn more or need help checking your eligibility, feel free to reach out to us!
