A New NYC Quakers Website

Announcing a new website for New York City Quakers (Friends) that better reflects our vibrancy with more photos, color, energy, and information

Welcome to the new NYC Quakers website. Over the past several months, Sarah Way and Ted Bongiovanni worked with Minds on Design Lab, guided by Jenn Coonce's user research, with input from the NYC Quakers communications salon participants, to reimagine what our website could be. The goal was to create a site that would better serve both our existing community and those seeking to learn more about NYC Quakers. Through colors, images, and new features, the new site expresses NYC Quakers' particular vibrancy, care for community, and activism.

The new website features a lot more content than the last one, including:

  • testimonials from individual NYC Friends
  • detailed descriptions of meetings for worship and the Quaker faith
  • attractive pages for each of our monthly meetings that highlight upcoming NYC-wide events at that meeting and feature a prominent link to the meeting's website
  • FAQs to answer common questions, including definitions of some "Quaker words" and Quaker organizational structure
  • information about New York Quarterly Meeting (NYQM) and pages for NYQM committees (if your committee doesn't have one yet and you'd like one, email Sarah)
  • a news feed for stories and announcements about NYC Quakers (including recent NYQM business meetings)
  • space reservation information for the buildings that NYQM manages
  • information about which staff member to contact for what, plus photos of staff members
  • NYC Quakers' social action and witness — what we care about most and what we're doing about it
  • and a collection of our programs and services, including grants, community wellness, and volunteer opportunities

Please explore! If you find a problem on the site, or have a suggestion, please note the URL where you noticed the issue and email your message to sarah@nycquakers.org.
