NYC Quakers Winter Retreat
NYC Friends and Friendly people will come together for worship, learning, fellowship, and reflection at this day-long retreat at Fifteenth Street Meeting.
All NYC Friends and Friendly people are invited to an all-day Winter Retreat on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at the 15th Street Meetinghouse. We hope to come together for worship, learning, fellowship, and reflection on "Who are we, and how do we witness in this present time?"
The retreat will include worshipful activities for both long-time Friends and those newer to Quakerism. We will also offer hour-long workshops on the following topics:
- Bible study with Jerry Reisig and Ron Hogan
- We will examine the ideas of individual gifts and group identity that Paul presents in 1 Corinthians 12. How do we discern our own spiritual gifts and how do we identify ourselves as equal parts of the quarter?
- Spiritual Accompaniment with Luisa Giugliano
- Wider Quaker organizations (FCNL, AFSC, Africa Education Committee) with Margery Cornwell
- Friends today search for ways in which we can best witness to our beliefs in this chaotic time. Many of our organizations have been “in the world” addressing these concerns for many years. In this workshop three Friends will who have been deeply involved in these organizations will discuss the work of the FCNL, AFSC and AEC. (We love acronyms. Find out here!) They will explain how Friends can become active. There will be material available describing other Quaker witness organizations. Participants will have an opportunity to express their ideas about how we can best witness as individuals and a Quarter.
- Deepening worship with Scott Blumenthal
