Stand with Jesus against Violent Power
Stand with Jesus against Violent Power: Brainstorming Solutions to the Crisis of Mainstream Christianity, a micro-conference at Fifteenth Street Meeting
Let Us Stand With Jesus Against Violent Power is a micro-conference convened in the spirit of Friends to confront the crisis of mainstream Christianity. Jesus began a poor people’s movement rooted in compassion, nonviolence, and resistance to empire. Today, many Christian institutions are complicit in nationalism, militarism, and state violence. We ask how Christians can organize—faithfully, courageously, and collectively—in this moral crisis.
Speakers include Rev. Dr. John J. Thatamanil, Professor of Theology and World Religions at Union Theological Seminary; Amanda Daloisio, editor at Catholic Worker; and Marah Sarji, Palestinian feminist liberation theologian with Christians for a Free Palestine. Complementary lunch served at 12:30 pm.
