The rich history and culture of the Native American tribes of Long Island, New Jersey, Brooklyn, and Queens stand as a testament to their deep connection with the land and its natural resources. These regions were home to tribes such as the Lenape, Canarsie, Shinnecock, Montaukett, Seltalcott and others who lived in harmony with their environment for thousands of years. Their traditions, wisdom, and resilience continue to inspire and educate us today. It is essential to honor their legacy by recognizing their contributions, preserving their heritage, and supporting ongoing efforts to protect their sacred lands and cultural identity. By learning about their stories and celebrating their enduring spirit, we can ensure that the history of these tribes remains an integral part of our shared narrative.
