Love as Action: a Declaration of Resistance
On SUNDAY, July 5, at 1 pm, gather with AFSC at the Washington Square Park Arch for one hour of collective witness alongside 15th Street's monthly Peace Vigil
Quaker public witness has long stood in opposition to cruel and authoritarian actions in our country. In this moment of rising authoritarianism and fascism, we are called to live that tradition again—together, in public.
Please join the American Friends Service Committee and 15th Street Friends Meeting for a nationwide day of action: a Declaration of Resistance.
On SUNDAY, July 5, at 1:00pm, in New York City, we will gather at the Washington Square Park Arch for one hour of collective witness alongside the monthly Silent Peace Vigil held by Fifteenth Street Meeting.
On the weekend of July 4, as the United States marks its 250th anniversary, communities across the country will gather in public spaces to bear witness, speak truth, and act together.
Together, we will affirm: We will protect people and communities. We will resist authoritarian government. We will build a free, equal and just future.
As part of this gathering, participants will be invited to sign a shared, art-based Declaration of Resistance—a visible expression of collective commitment that connects communities across the country and continues beyond this day as an ongoing witness.
