Julie Harlow is touring America this summer, sharing her experiences of travel and service in Russia and the former Soviet Union since 1984. She is the current clerk of Friends House Moscow, a small Quaker resource center (envisioned by Julie and like minded Friends worldwide when the USSR collapsed in 1991), which supports the development of Russian grass roots organizations. Since 1996, FHM’s programs have promoted alternatives to military service and alternatives to violence (AVP training), protected the rights of the underprivileged and provided services to disabled children, orphans and refugees.
