A memorial meeting in Ricardo Smith-Hoffman’s honor will be held at 15th Street Meeting (15 Rutherford Place, NYC) on June 15, beginning at 11 a.m., to be followed by coffee and fellowship.

Ricardo Smith-Hoffman, a cherished member of 15th Street Meeting, passed away on February 10th due to injuries sustained after being struck by a car.  He came to America as a small child from Panama but became a lifelong New Yorker who reveled in the diverse offerings of the city.  He was a star swimmer at Erasmus High School and worked as a lifeguard at Riis Park Beach in Brooklyn. With years dedicated to political organizing, both professionally and as a volunteer, Ricardo’s impact extended well beyond those with whom he directly interacted.  In addition, he turned his artistic talents into a career as a graphic artist. He played an integral role in the Arts Committee and was committed to attending the Peace Vigil whenever possible.  Ricardo was also instrumental in organizing the memorable open mic nights, filled with music and laughter, which were celebrated by all who attended.  He is survived by his sons, Andrew and Robert, their wives, his daughter, B.C., and his six grandchildren.
