Summary Directions to the beach — Meeting about 0.23 miles (400 yards) NE’ly from the end of the Franklin D. Roosevelt Boardwalk. At that location, you will find 3 large pieces of driftwood next to each other (the longest about 20 ft long) lying more or less parallel to the shoreline. It makes for a really nice seating area, one that may also be attractive to other beach goers; ie, if you see people sitting there who don’t look quite frumpy enough (or friendly enough) to be Quakers, just look around a bit; we may have just had to opt for a bit of open sand.
From parking lot 1 (the most NE’ly lot at South Beach) Just SE/o the corner of Ocean Ave & Drury. Permanent well-maintained restrooms are 300 yds WSW of the parking lot. (for directions from alternate lot, scroll down to the very bottom of this message).
Walking directions to meeting place:
Starting from the end of the Boardwalk, walk NE’ly along the bikeway/walkway 132 yds to Fort Wadsworth Sign.
Walking directionsfrom the Fort Wadsworth sign,
Continue walking N’ly along the bikeway/walkway as it curves left, for 106 yds until the bikeway/walkway ends at USS N Carolina Rd. Turn right and walk NE’ly along USS N Carolina Rd 194 yards to a path on your right, leading through the woods to the beach.
